I have a demanding day job, but I’m available for one-time audits and restructuring, and some ongoing PPC management for small businesses. I’ve advertised on numerous platforms (there’s a list here), but I now specialize in Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
Because my availability is limited, especially during the workday, I sharply discount my normal rate for most work.
Billing as a percentage of ad spend has all the wrong incentives, so I prefer to bill by the hour. But I’m efficient. I don’t take work I can’t do, and I’m not into jerking clients’ chains. A common arrangement for ongoing work is to bill by the hour, up to a maximum number of hours. (Once an account is built out and stable, that can be as little as 3-5 hours per month for a small business.)

I enjoy helping small businesses succeed in digital marketing, even though they can’t afford qualified, full-time PPC staff and don’t want the crap shoot of hiring an agency. And I don’t like leaving small business owners at the mercy of mostly-bad advice from low-level Google and Microsoft reps. For many small businesses, a few hours per month from a seasoned, successful PPC professional is a viable alternative.
It’s been more than five years since I last lost a client for any reason but this one: the business grew to the point that it needed full-time PPC help. Six-figure offers to be that in-house help are flattering, but I already have a day job I like.
